Craig Stucky Artist Statement

Using milk based paint and recycled house paint, I try create a scene which cannot be constructed in the real world. Having a feeling of ambiguity often comes to mind in trying to describe what is going on. The process begins fairly experimental with different methods of mark making pursued to act as a spark to stimulate a recognizable form to be rendered to some extent. These forms are in turn used to act out an unclear narrative within a semi-fragmented scene where the landscape and figures seem to be falling apart but are for the moment held together woven in the strokes of the brush. I seek to create a relation of opposites in the construction of a scene where the subjects interaction with the setting are at the same time connected and fragmented.
